Roof hail damage is often the hardest storm damage to spot without training – hail bruises shingles and knocks granules loose in ways that don't always look like obvious damage from the ground, but that damage compromises the shingle's ability to protect your roof over time.
We inspect roofs throughout Saint Louis, MO after any hailstorm, even when homeowners aren't sure there's damage at all. Hail impact can range from a few isolated marks to widespread bruising across the entire roof, and the size and density of hail during the storm usually tells us what to expect before we even get up there.
We check every shingle for the telltale signs of hail impact – circular bruising, cracked or dented spots, and granule loss that exposes the shingle's asphalt layer underneath. We pay close attention to soft metal components too, since gutters, vents, and flashing often show hail impact clearly even when shingle damage is harder to spot. Depending on severity, hail damage might mean targeted shingle replacement in the worst-hit areas, or in cases of widespread bruising across the whole roof, a full replacement makes more sense than patching damage that's spread everywhere.
Cost depends on the extent of hail impact and whether repair or full replacement is the right call for your roof's condition.
